Programme outline:

• Study of graining and marbling: types, regions, brief history.

• Understanding and using graining and marbling, glazes, palettes,

• Understanding hand movement, pressure and specific brushstrokes.

• How to properly use tools (brushes, steel combs, burlap, cork etc)

• Discuss and review the basics of wood / marble structures and compositions. various ways wood / marble is cut.

• Discuss colour, crystallization and overglaze.

• Caring for your tools and other materials: proper storage and cleaning.

• Overview of graining

• How to prepare and use various kinds of glazes: oil / Water based.

 

Outcomes upon completion: Upon completion you will have:

• Created and completed your individual samples / Panels of graining / marbling

• Have achieved a better understanding in all aspects of wood graining /  marbling.

• Will have increased confidence in your approach.

• Will receive the studios certificate of Professional Practice, upon completion of the course.
